Walter A. Ballard, Jr. passed away on June 13, 2024, in Tallahassee, FL, due to complications of Parkingson’s Disease. Walt was born in Miami, FL, and lived there until he and his wife moved to Tallahassee in 1998.
Walter was a graphic designer for many years. After he retired, he continued creating art using unique photographic techniques. He was never far from a camera. He loved cold weather and was fascinated by clouds.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Laura Melvin of Tallahassee, FL, his two sons, Walter Ballard, III (Britney) of Ft. Myers, FL and Christopher Ballard (Breanne) of Havana, FL, his daughter, Jessica Chapman (Paul) of Tallahassee, FL, and eight grandchildren. Also left behind, are his two dogs and a cat.
“Walter viewed the world through the eyes of an artist and created beauty wherever he went.”
He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service for Walter will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
