Tommy (Tom) C. Brown passed away in Tallahassee, Florida on September 1, 2024, following a lengthy decline in health. Tommy was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on August 26, 1933, the son of Susie D. Townsend Brown and Roy C Brown. He was preceded in death by siblings Dorothy (Grubb), Richard, Joseph, and Mary. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Flora Jo Young Brown and their children Lauren, Mark (Bari), Kevin and Keith (Karen). Tom and FlorA Jo have 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Tommy served in the Florida House of Representatives for the 29th district from 1980-1986 and in the Florida Senate from 1987-1991 for the 10th district. Previous to his service to the people of Florida, Tom served as a minister with the Church of Christ assemblies in Russellville, Kentucky; Huntsville Alabama; Gainesville, Florida; Florence, Alabama; Nashville, Tennessee and New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in 7 years in the military reserve. Tommy grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida and graduated from Mainland High School with the class of 1951.He received his BA degree from David Lipscomb College where he met his wife Flora Jo and he received his MA degree from the University of Florida. He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed....we were fortunate to have him in our lives. There will be no public memorial service. A graveside service will be held for family members at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to Christian Family Services.
