Sylvia was born on December 6, 1938 in Yalaha, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree in 1961. Sylvia retired from Leon County Health Department after 30 years of nursing.
Sylvia was a member of St. Thomas More Co-Cathedral in Tallahassee, Florida.
Sylvia was the youngest of William and Kathrin Wintersdorf’s seven children. Her brother, William Wintersdorf, sisters Loretta Riordan and Tina Powell, and her grandson Matthew Garrepy preceded her in death.
Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Christy Hale (Larry), Shirley Revels (Mike), Sharon Nichols (Andy); grandchildren, Katie Garrepy (Ryan), Stacy Sereno (Alex), Brady Revels (Katie); great-grandchildren, Maisie and Michael Sereno; sisters, Claire Honaker, Hilda DeKrey, and Mary Alice Barrett as well as many nieces and nephews to whom she was lovingly known as “Aunt Sissy.”
Her family would like to thank Cornerstone Hospice for the wonderful support and care they gave Sylvia and her family.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on October 10, 2024 at St. Thomas More Co-Cathedral with interment at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park on Timberland Road in Tallahassee, Florida.
Sylvia was a staunch supporter of many charities, especially St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ P.O. Box 96105 Washington, DC 20090-6105). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to these organizations.
