Steve was born in Massachusetts to Francis and Hazel Burke on April 25, 1951. He attended the United States Air Force Academy where he met Linda, the love of his life for more than 50 years. Steve retired from the United States Air Force in 1992. After retiring, he enjoyed hobbies of woodworking, cooking, loving his grandchildren, and cheering on his beloved Florida State Seminoles.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Francis “Frank” Burke, mother Hazel Burke, and sister Lauren Costello.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda; daughters Robyn Dilmore (Michael) and Amanda Burke; grandchildren Christopher, Alisyn, Dakota, and Olivia; great-grandchildren Noah and Arabella; brother Gordon “Topper” Burke (Beverly) and sister Maureen McWilliams; his much loved dogs Phillip and Phoebe; and an immeasurable number of adopted family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on March 4th, 2023 at Cash’s 98 West located at 2712 US-98, Mary Esther, FL.
A small service with full military honors will be held at 1 PM on March 9th at Tallahassee National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html or The Wounded Warrior Project https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/ , both of which held a special place in his heart.
