Ruth Ethel Hooks Morgan born February 18, 1930, to parents Gladys Mae Tucker Hooks and Marion Carnegia Hooks in Miami, FL passed peacefully into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on April 3rd, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Ruth loved God above all and had a tremendous love for children of all ages, gardening, crafting and helping others. While having many children of her own, she served as a second mom to countless others. She was the nursery attendant for many years at the First Church of the Nazarene introducing children to God's love at a very early age. In addition, she worked at Chaires Elementary School in the cafeteria and kept children after school and during the summer break.
She is survived by four daughters; Joyce Kirkland (Sam), Iris Morgan, Ruby Thigpen (Wesley) and April Haupt (Brad), three sons; Danny Morgan (Charlene), Ronald Morgan (Angela), Mark Morgan (Allison), daughter-in-law Janet Morgan, 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grand children as well as countless "adopted" children, nephews and nieces. She is also survived her sisters Ruby Sullivan (twin), Francis Roberts, Betty Spence and brother Clarence Hooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnnie Lee Morgan Jr., an infant daughter, son Johnnie Lee Morgan III, sisters Glenda Riley, Mable Bell, and Edna Eccles.
Friends and family will be received on Monday April 7th from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene. There will be a viewing on Tuesday April 8th from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. also at the First Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, Nursery/Children's Department, 1983 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL.
