Roseann Loskill Poole, educator and public health advocate, passed away at the age of 79 on October 1, 2017. Roseann spent most of her childhood in Washington, DC and had been a resident of Tallahassee since 1971. She is survived by her son Andrew, daughter Michelle, daughter-in-law Jolene and son-in-law Clay, along with her grandchildren Alex, Connor and Rosemary. She was preceded in death by her parents Frederick James Loskill and Mary Frances SanFellipo Loskill, as well as her sister Miriam Loskill Parezo.
A lifelong learner with a passion for education, Roseann earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee in Home Economics in 1960, a Master’s of Science in Nutrition from the University of Tennessee in 1965, and a Master of Science in Hygiene from Tulane University in 1971. Roseann completed her doctoral course work in Nutrition and Gerontology at Florida State University.
Roseann started her career as a public health nutritionist and ended it as an educator, primarily at Tallahassee Community College. Over the years, it was common for Roseann and her family to run into a former student anytime they were out and about in Tallahassee.
Roseann will be remembered for her love of learning and reading, her strength and determination in the face of obstacles, and her sense of humor and generosity to all.
Roseann enjoyed supporting many local not-for-profits and especially enjoyed shopping for families hosted by Tallahassee’s Christmas Connection. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christmas Connection, Catholic Charities, P.O Box 20165, Tallahassee, Florida 32316.
