Born January 4, 1951. She passed peacefully at home in Tallahassee, FL with her sons at her side on Sept. 2, 2022. Today we celebrate the blessed 71 years of her life on Earth and rejoice understanding God took back a true angel.
Renee Denise Adrianse was born on TRAVIS AFB, CA. raised around the world stretching from the beaches of California to the Communist cold war border of East Berlin, where she rode horses across from armed enemy German soldiers! Later, her parents settled in Michigan where she attended Big Rapids High school and married her only husband Steven. She majored in interior design at Indiana – Purdue University in Kokomo, IN. and completed her degree even though she had a newborn son. Soon, she realized it was more fulfilling to fill a house with children rather than fancy interiors, so she followed her heart, and changed her career to focus entirely on family and her flower gardens for the rest of her life.
She was never without a flower garden, and she was always the perfect blossom no matter what the circumstance and had deep empathy when others were troubled. But, she would not stand for anyone worrying about her…ever. “Be strong for me like I was for you” she said. Renee was one of the toughest people you could know and stood steadfast and tall like a lighthouse in a hurricane when needed. Her love was immensely, powerfully pure, and positively electrifying to her family, as well as, the acquaintances she ran into running errands. If you met her once, you knew her, or wanted to forever. She liked to say “I LOVE YOU MORE” after someone told her they loved her. Mom always wanted people to be happy and used humor along with animated goofiness to really break down tension and get people laughing. She had a lot of moments where she cracked up hysterically at herself and others who were being funny to the point of needing to catch her breath.
The word beautiful does not do justice for her physical beauty. She was a knockout, a perfect 10 and that shows in her four grandbabies. “Gamm gamm” would put an ear to ear smile across grandma’s face every time! The grandkids and three sons brought her a tremendous amount of solace after she abruptly lost her beloved husband nine years ago, and so did her gardens. Her loyalty to her husband never faded. She didn’t have just one small garden she filled the yard beautifully over the past 15 years with flowering trees, plants, bushes, annuals, and perennials while she took time to adjust PH soil levels to produce predictable colors next season. One day she exclaimed loudly “ I just want one more day in my Garden!” She was absolutely the most amazing and loving person I ever met in my life. She was grace.
Renee was artistic and passionate about life but she really liked coffee, sewing, drawing clothing designs, painting, baking, cooking, candy, reading all kinds of books from dangerous shark infested waters to boat mysteries on the sea, laughing, the woods, the beach- late night flashlight crabbing, hanging out with her family, neighbors, and bestie, and anything to do with nature i.e. birdsong, Maclay gardens, St. Johns lighthouse and nature preserve, the PCB Jetties, and especially staying up late which gave her the nick name night owl. She said she would reveal herself sometimes and hoot and howl as an owl so listen carefully on those full moons! Foods she liked were coconut shrimp, pork chops, peanut butter cups, and recently frostys. The movies watched were almost always a psychological thriller. I barely scratched the surface of who mom was and there was not enough ink, paper, or time in the world to truly explain her awesomeness and perfection, or how much she will be missed. WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER … “I LOVE YOU MORE!”
Renee is survived by her sons, Jalon Adrianse (Tashana Hudson), Gregory (Carolina) Adrianse, and Paul (Alana) Adrianse; and four grandchildren, Rylan, Mateus, Ahna, and Anjali; and three siblings, Diane Northway, Greg St.Claire, and Karen Oneil-Skar; and her pets, Bandit and Angel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Adrianse.
