Raymond Thomas Edmondson, Jr. 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 17, 2017 in Tallahassee, Fl. surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois Elizabeth Edmondson. Born in Paterson, N.J. the son of Helen Edmondson and Raymond T. Edmondson, Sr. in 1937. Ray served in the Navy Seavees, MCB7 division. He resided in New Jersey until moving his family to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Upon retirement from the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department Ray and Lois relocated to Tallahassee, Fl. Ray served on the Tacticle Impact Unit, Ft. Lauderdale Police & Fire Pension Board and was president of the FOP for 7 years. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, N.J., was a graduate of Broward University, Davie, Fl. and Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Fl. He held a General Contractors license and loved building furniture and houses. His other passions were his family, sitting on the porch of the beach house overlooking the Gulf, golf and pension issues. Ray was a founder of the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association and served as CEO for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Raymond S. Edmondson (Corry); daughter, Kimberlie E. Ryals (Peter); grandsons, Matthew P. Ryals, Ethan P. Ryals, Joshua C. Ryals (Braxton), Steven McGowan, Trevor Pearson and the late Raymond T. Edmondson III. Also, a sister, Barbara Helms of Houston and nephews, David Helms and Thomas Helms.
Visitation is Friday June 23, 2017 from 3 pm to 5pm with a service following at 5pm at Culley's Meadowwood Timberlane Rd.,Tallahassee, Fl.
