Ronald “Ray” Allen, 49, of Tallahassee, died on June 29, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Ray was born in Titusville, Florida, on July 21, 1966. He died as a result of injuries in a motorcycle accident.
Ray served in the US Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne. After leaving the Army, he returned to Tallahassee and began a long career in property management at Coastal Property Services. He recently began a new business venture (First Source Funding of North Florida, LLC) with his longtime friend and mentor, Tom Proctor, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Katherine Kelley Allen and two amazing sons, Jackson and Connor. Ray considered them his greatest accomplishments.
He is also survived by his parents, Brenda Joyce (BJ) Wallace Allen and Gary Gee Allen, both of Tallahassee; as well as his sister, Angela Allen Pilkington (Rob); brothers, Michael (Jeanne), Shane (Shannon) and Jason (Jennifer); his in-laws, Marshall and Carolyn Kelley; sister and brother-in-law Karen and Sandy Stokes; 10 nieces and nephews that he loved dearly; as well as a large extended family that includes many aunts, uncles and cousins and devoted friends. Ray is predeceased by his grandparents, Raymond and Masie Mae Wallace.
Ray spent endless hours devoted to BSA, Troop 114 and considers them part of his family as well. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: The Ray Allen Scholarship, Suwannee River Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2032 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday (7/5) at 1:00 PM in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3717 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee.
