Peter Vincent DeCastro, also known as Pete, Uncle Pete, Mr. D and "The Legend," 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Pete was born in New Brunswick, NJ. He grew up and resided in Middlesex where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Shedlak. They moved to Flemington after they married and resided there until 2005, when they decided to leave the cold behind and move to Tallahassee, FL to enjoy the warmth and the sunshine. Pete was a salesman in the wholesale tire industry for over 30 years. He was a member of the New Jersey Antique Car Club and enjoyed driving antique cars. In his spare time, you could find him tinkering with his trains and studying his passion of Isshinryu karate, where he achieved 4th degree black belt. Pete had a zest for life and loved to have fun, but always put his family and friends first. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, excellent teacher, dearest friend, and biggest supporter.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene of 51 years; three children - daughters: Heather (Jay) Strowd of Charlotte, NC and Amanda (Scott) Forsthoffer of South Plainfield, NJ; son: Kevin (Athena) DeCastro of Shawnee, KS; three grandchildren: Courtney DeCastro, Jacob DeCastro and Vincent DeCastro; one sister - Deborah (Mike) Remesi of Concord, NC; two nieces: Danielle Beczynski and Lauren Remesi; and three nephews: Scott Kushner, Michael Remesi and Marc Remesi.
