Palmer Jean Lee of Tallahassee, FL passed away peacefully on Friday June 23, 2017 at the age of 78. Born on May 21, 1939 in Cairo, Georgia, she moved to Tallahassee with family in 1941. Jean graduated from Leon High School in 1957 and retired from the State of Florida Legislative Data Center in 1997. She was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee serving as an elder and participating on numerous groups and committees. She enjoyed volunteering to help at Elder Care, serving on her church Worship Team, visiting the Gulf beaches, following Florida State football and spending time with family and friends.
Jean is survived by siblings M. Sybil DeBrock of LaSalle, Colorado; Bryan O. Lee (Dianne) of Warrensburg, Missouri; Randall W. Lee, Sr. (Agnes) of Tallahassee; Linda D. Herring of Pelham, Georgia; R. Terry Lee, Sr. (Anita) of Jacksonville, Florida; Brenda A. Williams of Leesburg, Georgia; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and her longtime companion and dearest friend Isabel June Stewart. She is preceded in death by her parents Martha Eugenia Griffin and Richard Palmer Lee, and siblings Wiley R. “Dick” Lee, Dorothy A. Neal, Grace T. Arnold and A. Dale Lee. Also preceded by brothers-in-law James DeBrock, Newell A. “Bud” Arnold and Frank Herring.
A private family viewing will be at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home at 4:00pm on Wednesday, June 28th with visitation following at 5:00pm. A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 29th at 9:00am at First Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee followed by a graveside service at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Tallahassee at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to First Presbyterian Church or to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. The Lee family would like to extend special thanks to Robin and Angela at Select Specialty Hospital for their compassionate care.
