Nellie was born in Dade County on April 7, 1921. She lived in Leon County until later in life, when she moved to Wakulla County. She was a long time member of White Baptist Church in Woodville. Nellie, our mother, was a caring, loving, and giving person. She always taught us not to hate, but to love one another. She always said hate was easy, but love and forgiveness was what God wanted. She was a loving mother through all of our lives. She taught us the gospel, though at time we thought we were being preached at. She always was there when we needed her. She loved us each in a special way. Her many grandchildren were all very special. She has many friends, and touched many lives with her kindness. She is survived by eight children: Betty (Tom) Mercer, Julia (Mike) Miller, Roy (Rita) Morgan, Ed (Pam) Morgan, James (Jeanie) Morgan, John (Sue) Morgan, Marie (Larry) Sellars, and Rose Barnhill; a brother, James A. Gray; sisters: Deloise Gronewald, Costello (Raymond) Aviles, Lillie Sharpro; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Culley’s MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at White Baptist Church of Woodville on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM, with Interment to follow at Woodville Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, FL.
