Nancy Rainey Turner, 79, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2013. She was born on January 7, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida and resided in Monticello, Florida. Her parents were L.R. and Gwendolyn Rainey. She attended William and Mary College in Virginia and Florida State University. She was an elementary school teacher in Pensacola, Florida and Monticello, Florida. She quit teaching to take care of her three children. She was of the Methodist faith and a devout Christian. She lived in California for 35 years before returning to her native Florida to be with her family.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her parents, L.R. and Gwendolyn Rainey and her middle son, Michael A. Turner. She is survived by her oldest son, Donald Turner (Cherie) and grandson, Jarrod Turner of Monticello, Florida and one daughter, Elizabeth Bookout and a granddaughter, Meghann Bookout of Crawfordville, Florida. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Marissa Turner, and a grandson, Horace Turner of Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, the widow and son of Michael A. Turner. She is also survived by an older sister, Jane Rissman (Sandy) of Pembroke Pines, Florida and two nephews and a niece.
Visitation will be Friday, November 22,2013 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Culley’s Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11 :00 a.m. at Culley’s Funeral Home at 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida. Internment will follow the funeral service at Roseland Cemetery Monticello, Florida.
