Myrtle E. Strickland went to be with her Lord, father, mother, and two brothers on Monday, April 25, 2016. She was a daughter of Tom Young and Rose Barton Young. Myrtle retired from K-Mart in 1992. She loved to sing gospel music, play her piano, worship her Lord, and travel. She had great love for her family and church, and sisters in Christ.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 38 years, G.C. Strickland; and two brothers, Dewey and J.B. Young. She is survived by three daughters, Anna L. Butler, Beverly Strickland, and Cherry Strickland; two sons, Tommy (Brenda) Hicks and Tim Strickland; and one sister, Shirley Gilford. She is also survived by grandaughter Tanya Champion who gave loving care to her “Nana” in her final days; and eight other grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
