Michael Mike James Hanrahan

He was born to Thomas and Roberta Hanrahan in Staten Island, NY on October 6, 1957. His family moved to Keyport, NJ when he was in 8th grade where he met and married his former wife, Helen K Hanrahan, and they began raising their family before moving to Key Largo, FL and himself later to Havana, FL.

Mike graduated from Keyport High School in 1975 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Brookedale Community College in 1984. He experienced many successful years working in the HVAC industry owning and operating his own companies in both Keyport, NJ, and Key Largo, FL, and most recently was employed with the City of Tallahassee.

Mike had an immense love for the oceans, history, music and bikes, and greatly enjoyed spending time scuba diving, watching documentaries or reading biographies, listening to his collection of rock and blues records, learning the harmonica and guitar, and going for rides on his motorcycle.

He had a brilliant mind and a huge heart, being the proud father of three. He was a loving father and spent countless hours helping with homework, playing catch, and cheering his kids on at little league games, he even coached a number of teams.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Hanrahan; and his brother, John Hanrahan.

He is survived by his son, Michael A Hanrahan of Palm City, FL; his daughters, Jessica L Hanrahan of Port St Lucie, FL, and Katie L Hanrahan of Orlando, FL; his mother, Roberta Hanrahan; his brother, Thomas Hanrahan; and his sisters, Kathleen Hanrahan, Regina Quattlebaum, Colleen Miller, and Marie Hanrahan; he also survived by the mother of his children and good friend, Helen K Hanrahan.

A memorial service will be held at Yesterday's in Hazlet, NJ, on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 5:00. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be sent to The Cousteau Society at 732 Eden Way North, Suite E, #707, Chesapeake, VA 23320 in his honor.

Arrangments are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida.
