Michael P. “Pete” Ferris, 81, of Tallahassee died Wednesday (1/25) at his home. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and had a career in law enforcement. He retired from the Capital Police and was instrumental in establishing the State of Florida Bomb Squad. He was a accomplished painter, using oils, and was known to be very patient as well as always up front and honest with everyone. He was a devoted husband and father and doted on his dog.
Survivors include his son: Bill of Tallahassee; brother: Terry of Ohio; sister Jean Elfers of Ohio; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.
A graveside committal service is being planned for later at Tallahassee National Cemetery. For friends who wish, the family suggests memorial donations to the Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308
