Melissa Rheannon Wujek (formerly Melissa Goodwin, maiden name Chapman) passed away Wednesday, July 24 at her home in Fort Stewart GA. A native of Leonardtown MD., Melissa lived in the Tallahassee area beginning in 1983, until moving to Ft. Stewart after marriage to Christopher Wujek, Specialist, U.S. Army, on February 21, 2013. She is survived also by her mother Tammy Mae Chapman and her significant other Ed Green of Tallahassee; father Craig Dough of Crawfordville, children Michael Stephens (age 14) and Haley Stephens (age 12) of Tallahassee, grandmother Virginia Mattingly and Aunt Penny Meyers of Baltimore MD, Uncle Charles Mattingly of Indian Head, MD former husband Michael Goodwin and his parents, Joyce and Frank Stephens of Tallahassee and many friends in the Tallahassee area. Her devoted Service Dog Pharaoh survives her, as well.
Melissa, a lover of animals, loved working with horses, particularly, and had worked at horse stables in the area. She was near completion of a Vet Tech training program when she passed suddenly at her home, with her loving husband Chris by her side. We will miss her sharp intellect, zany sense of humor, tremendous energy, and fierce determination to be the best person she could be, despite significant health challenges.Despite her challenges, she was a positive person to an inspiring degree to those who knew her best.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 29th from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Culley’s MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Melissa’s Life at 12:00pm.
