Dr. Matthew Michael Cohen, 70, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on January 23rd, 2020 at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Eldest son of Stanley and Sonia, followed by his three sisters: Debra, Cara, and Jana.
He graduated from George Washington University in 1971 in Pre-Med and received his M.D. from the University of Miami in 1975.
He was married to Leslie, his wife of 47 years, whom he met in 1969 at GWU.
Matt opened a large family medical practice in Tallahassee, starting or involved with many boards and organizations such as Planned Parenthood, Lung Association, Hospice, and many more. He was known as the Original Dr. Cohen among his patients who included many lawyers and artists. He wrote and published 19 medical books and one photography book.
Matt was an avid gardener, growing and creating new breeds of orchids. He was also an art collector and shared his love of art with his wife and children.
He was survived by his children Jessica (Haim) and Gabriel (Soyoung), and his grandkids Maya, Alison, Avram, Dov, Penny, and Leo.
Matt will be remembered as a kind and caring person; a dedicated physician; a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother; and a good friend to many.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 1pm on January 26th, 2020 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home at 700 Timberlane Rd. in Tallahassee, Fl 32312
