I was a nurse for Dr Cohen.  I remember the day I took my boards and I arrived back at work and found a bouquet of flowers congratulating me on passing my boards.  I explained I did not know the results and he said I know you did. I would not have hired you if I didn’t believe you would not pass.  I had great admiration for “the boss”. I was with him until the day he closed his practice. Thank you boss for the great memories and teachings you shared

Dr. Cohen was primary care doctor for my parents, Haynes and Madeline Herold,  for many years and they were so fond of him and his staff. My condolences to his family.

I am so very sorry to learn of Dr. Cohen's passing. I became a patient shortly after he established his practice. I was always so impressed by his approach to viewing  and treating patients as a whole person, and by his many, many interests outside of his profession. May his memory be a blessing.

Deeply saddened by the loss of my all-time favorite doc. A complete genius at diagnoses, relentless in the hunt for answers, he appreciated patients who asked intelligent questions. His memory WILL always be a blessing, may he rise in glory.

I had the pleasure of working with Matt in his practice and he was also my personal physician. The many stories & memories created in that office are endless. Sending my sympathy to Leslie & his children. RIP

Dr. Matt was our family physician when my first daughter Anna was born in 1982 and for many years after until we moved from Tallahassee.  He and Judy took great care of us on our visits and I kept in brief touches with him over the years.  He will be remembered and missed by many.

It's funny the things we remember.  When I think of Matthew, I remember that, even in elementary school, he was interested in orchids.  Always smart, nice and interesting.  May his memory be a blessing....

So sorry to hear of Matt's passing.  Have so many memories of working with him back in the 80's.  So appreciative of him being with me when Luke was born even though he couldn't deliver.  He loved his family so much.   Again, so sorry for your loss.

So sorry I discovered Matt’s passing one day too late!  He delivered my second child on Memorial Day in 1980!  I was able to have a second natural birth only because of him and nurse Trish Everett.  He was way ahead of his time in patient care!  He was also a friend and mentor to be when I was making the transition from counselor at the Mental Health Center to private practice.  Thank you Matt, 42 years later  and still working part time in that practice!

After I came to Tallahassee I was looking for a primary care doctor and while rounding at TMH I asked Matt if he would be my doctor .  When asked why I picked him , I said I needed someone who was way smarter than me or I wouldn’t listen to them. We agreed he was way smarter , and I actually listened to him, at least most of the time. He was a great doctor and I remained his patient until he retired. RIP Matt.

Matt, forward-thinking in many ways, was the first allopathic physician in Tallahassee to offer massage therapy in his practice.  In 1985, my having been a Licensed Massage Therapist for all of two years, he asked me to come to his office one day/week to work with patients he would refer to me.  For eight years I did exactly that; he trusted me to be able to help his patients with all kinds of diagnoses, and that trust caused me to develop professionally as a therapist, and to see firsthand the efficacy of my work.  I will be forever grateful.  It has had a lasting impact on my 35-year career.

We also had the same May birthday (Taureans rock!), and I think we felt a kinship and an understanding of each other as a result.  It was a joy to know him, and to be part of his practice.

In the midst of being treated for chronic UTIs in the late 70s, Dr. Matt asked what I would be doing after I received my Masters degree in counseling.  I was working at Apalachee Center at the time.  Dr. Matt suggested I consider seeing his patients who needed counseling, in his or the other doctors' offices during my lunch or after work.  And so armed with a letter of recommendation from him in my back pocket, I went to see various physicians to market myself and to try and garner referrals.  That was 40 years ago, and the rest is history.  Thank you Dr. Matt Cohen, for believing in me.  For this, I will be forever grateful.  I so appreciate all you ever did for me and my family, including delivering my son.  We all were very lucky to have you on our side.  

Matthew Cohen is remembered by many at Miami Norland Senior High, Class of 1967, as a good friend and classmate.   My deepest sympathies to his family and friends and all those whom he has touched throughout the years.    Bill Campbell

Dr.Matt did so much for me. He was the doctor for both of my sons. He was a caring, loving and funny man. He was a brilliant doctor. He took care of me at one of the worst times of my life.  Go with God Dr.Matt. I will miss you.

Dr. Cohen took care of our family for years. He brought Chad and Chelsey Mason into this world with me as a catcher by his side. Thanks for the memories sir!

Matt and I were best friends since age 10.  He remains in my memory  energetic, funny (as was his father), full of life, and overflowing with friends.   We played board games, rode our bikes, did homework together.  His house was practically my second home.   We climbed the stairway inside the Statue of Liberty to the crown (permitted back then).  I met Leslie for the first time on that trip.  We went to Dolphins games and watched the longest ever NFL game on TV on Christmas day 1971.  (The Dolphs won.)

We continued to see each other over the years, at Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, class reunions, and other occasions, but it is the young, lively, funny Matt, my best friend, who will always remain with me.

Sending love, prayers and peace for Matthew and all of his family.  As the eldest of the Cohen siblings, Matthew  modeled the path for his younger sisters to also become respected professionals, involved in their communities and good friends to all.  May good memories  of Matthew be a blessing for Leslie, for Jessica and Gabriel and their families, and for Debra, Cara and Jana.
