Martha Hewett "Miff' Chandler passed away on December 7, 2014, at the age of 86 in Tallahassee, Florida, after a short illness. Martha was born in Clearwater, Florida, but grew up on Scott Lake in Lakeland, Florida, which held some of her happiest memories. Upon graduation from high school Martha moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University where she studied and obtained her degree in Art. At FSU she met and married the love of her life.
Martha's many hobbies included watercolor art, pen and ink drawings and designing/constructing miniature dollhouses. She was past president of the Tallahassee Jaycee-ettes, member of the Tallahassee Garden Club, Republican Women's Club, FSU Booster Club and a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Martha is preceded in death by her father and mother, Burton and Thelma Pipkin Hewett, her sister, Audrey Dunham and brothers, Edwin Hewett and Jimmy Hewett. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Herbert W. Chandler, Sr., son Bill Chandler (Tami), daughters, Pat Erwin, Connie Bond (Pat), and Mary Anne Russell (Al), grandchildren Carmen Mansfield, Megan Scileppi (Dominick), Amanda Russell, Lewis Bond, Elliott Bond and Kayla Chandler, great grandchildren Bryce Mansfield and Amelia Scileppi and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday December 11 at Culley's Funeral Home on Riggins Road. The family will receive friends Thursday at 10:00A.M. at Culley's.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Covenant Hospice.
