Marjorie (Marj) Louise Ritchie, 93, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 15 with family at her bedside. She was born in Carlinville, IL on June 21, 1926 to Alvin and Della Boedecker. She was the youngest of five, with four brothers.
She was married on May 3, 1946 in Litchfield, IL to William (Bill) Lawrence Ritchie.
Marj was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked several jobs, her favorite was as a bookkeeper for Turtle Creek Convalescent Center, in Litchfield, IL. She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. After retirement Marj and Bill moved to Tallahassee, FL in 1984 as she said “to have fun with grandchildren, Great Fun!!”. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, reading and loved watching grandkids playing sports, especially baseball.
She is survived by three children Glen Ritchie of Tallahassee, FL, Ray Ritchie (Linda) of Manteo, NC, and Martin Ritchie (Diane) of Monticello, FL.; three grandchildren Jason Ritchie (Kim) and Sarah Tomblin (Dan) all of Tallahassee, FL and Andre’ Ritchie (Vyoma) of Albuquerque, NM; five great grandchildren Tyler, Parker, Preston Ritchie, Brianna and Nathan Tomblin and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson Ryan Ritchie. Also preceding her brothers Wilferd (Alma), Vernon (Roberta), Maynard (Ruth) and Ernest (Reba) all predeceased.
There will be a private grave side service at Culley’s Meadow Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Bend Hospice.
