The daughter of Clarence Arendal & Julia Whitfield Neeley she was born in Tallahassee Florida in 1935, and was a graduate of Leon High School Class of 1953. She attended the University of Colorado; while there she met and married the late Donald R. Palmer of Denver and they had two children.
Margaret later returned to Tallahassee where she spent the remainder of her life. She worked at the Apalachee Center for Human Resources as an accountant and left to care for her aging mother. She and her mother were close companions and best friends until her mother's death at the age of 102.
Margaret was predeceased by her son Zachary Palmer in 2013, and she is survived by her daughter Kerri Palmer Young, her sister Nancy Neeley Traiser, 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Margaret enjoyed researching her ancestral heritage. As the granddaughter of the late Honorable James Bryan Whitfield former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Florida and Margaret Randolph Whitfield, she had many fond memories of the famous dignitaries she met while growing up in her grandparents home across the street from the State Capitol building. She was also a descendant of Thomas Eston Randolph the first marshal of the Territory of Florida, and Hardy and Bryan Croom, builders of Goodwood Plantation.
Interment and memorial will be private at her request and be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of choice.
