On Monday, December 18, 2023; Larry Wade Stokely, beloved husband and father passed away at age 76. He resided in St. Marks, FL. Born to Willie Wade and Christell Stokely in Madison, FL. Larry then grew up in Jacksonville, FL. He started his college career at North Florida Community College where he met his wife, Nancy Cason. He then attended Valdosta State College where he received his bachelor’s degree in Sociology and then attended the University of Central Michigan and graduated with a master’s degree in Business Administration. He retired from the Real Estate Industry in Tallahassee, FL.
Larry began his professional career as a Probation and Parole Officer. The job he loved the most was when he worked with veterans as a Veteran Counselor at North Florida Community College in Jacksonville, FL. He was in environmental control sales during his next career phase and ultimately retired from the Real Estate Industry.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Shannon Ash (Bart); his grandchildren Cason Ash (Cheyanne) and Austen Ash (Mel). He has three great grandchildren: Jackson, Dawson, and Bryson Ash. He is also survived by his brothers; Edward Stokely (Vickie), Robert Stokely (Retta) and sister Carol Carroll (Pat). In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Larry enjoyed fishing, traveling, boating, golfing, cooking and enjoying time with his great grandkids, his dog Marks, family and friends. He will be remembered as a good family man, father and husband. He was very accepting of others, nonjudgmental, and you would never hear him say bad things about people. He was a “live and let live” kind of guy. He took great pride in serving his country in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge. Larry was also very proud of his Creek Indian heritage. Others saw him as a protector for others.
The service will be held at Culley’s Funeral Home on Riggins Road on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that those that are able and desire make a donation to Big Bend Hospice or any other organizations that offer assistance to people.
