Katie graduated from Leon High in Tallahassee and later worked for the State of Florida and become owner/operator of Red and Sam’s Tradewinds Fish Camp where she acquired many great stories of fishermen.
She enjoyed traveling and with her sisters drove across the United States twice. Katie was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church where she taught the 5-year old Sunday School Class. Later she became a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where among other things she enjoyed working in the kitchen helping cook and serve the Wednesday evening meals.
Katie was an involved grandma to Julian and Travis and they each have wonderful memories with her. When her great-grandchildren arrived she was over the moon. Even though they live in Maryland, she was fully invested in their lives and loved each minute spent with them.
Katie had been under the care of Big Bend Hospice the last few weeks of her life and while they gave her great care, they also helped family members cope with all the changes and her passing.
There will be a private family service on October 12, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial donations to Immanuel Baptist Church or Big Bend Hospice.
