Joseph Wayne Quinsey, of Tallahassee, passed away on October 16, 2018 at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare after a brief illness. He was 67. He was born in Quincy, Florida on October 9, 1951 to Joseph Haywood Quinsey and Ellen Moore Quinsey.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Lynn, son Richard Wayne Quinsey (Patricia), precious and adored grandchildren Logan and Laura Quinsey, brother-in-law Jay Revell, Ellen Moore Quinsey, sister Sandra Gail Quinsey, uncle Herbert Quinsey, many cousins, so many dear friends, and his four beloved cats who miss him terribly. He was predeceased by his father Joseph Quinsey and mother-in-law Jean Whitfield Revell.
Wayne graduated from Leon High School, where he was a shortstop for the varsity baseball team, in 1969 and from FSU in 1973. He was retired from FDLE after 40 years of dedicated service.
His passions were his family, friends, St. Teresa Beach, rock and roll concerts, music, fast cars, travel, joking, talking, Lynn’s cooking and most of all helping all others, people and animals. He enjoyed his volunteer work with the Leon County Humane Society where no task was too big or small or too unpleasant. Last but not least, FSU sports. He shared many wonderful years of tailgate parties with his friends before the games. He was always decked out in garnet and gold and famously known by friends, young or old, as the guy that always wears the FSU cap, in perpetual motion.
There was not a kinder, more compassionate and gentle man that thrived on being there for others in need. No matter where he was or whatever he was doing, his first and foremost concern and love was always “his girl”, Lynn. He will forever be missed by all those who came into his world.
Wayne’s memorial service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home on Riggins Road at 11:00 am. Visitation will follow the service, with an assortment of refreshments.
Please feel free to come casual, as Wayne would have wanted, garnet and gold preferred. If you have funny Wayne stories, you are encouraged to share them at the memorial if you wish.
If you would like to leave a memorial contribution in his name, he would have appreciated your consideration of the Leon County Humane Society at 413 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL.
