John H. Chason Jr.

He was born February 1, 1940, in Carrabelle, Florida and moved to Tallahassee, Florida on January 1, 1948.

He was a Husband, Father, and Grandpa who loved his family with all his heart and soul. He was an avid deer hunter who liked to camp and hunt with his family and many friends. In the fall they would gather at the intersection of FH13 and 126, in Liberty County, Florida.

He was a 1958 graduate of Leon High School and a 1963 graduate of Florida State University College of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

John served in the Florida National Guard and was a member of the Masons. He was employed by the Leon County School Board, retiring as the Director of Property Management and Materials and Stores in 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Christie Sue P. Chason, of 50 years, a son, John Chason, III (Lisa) and daughter, Debra Dawson (Steve), five grandchildren, Lindsay Chason, Daniel Chason, Connor Chason, Jeffrey Dawson, and Christopher Dawson, his mother Doris Chason, sister Mildred Bunton (Ray), nephews, George Pearce, III (Carol), Dean Bunton (Karen), Gregory Bunton, niece Nancy McKee (Pat), and great nephews, great nieces and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Chason, Sr.

The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 on November 1, 2012 at Culley’s Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida.

A private family memorial will be held.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice.
