Jesse Jackson “Jack” Killingworth, 89, passed away in his home in Tallahassee on April 14, 2024. Jack was the eldest child in a family of eight kids, although to hear his siblings talk, he may as well have been an only child because he was his mama’s beloved son. Jack served proudly in the Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Philippines Sea in the 1950’s. With hard work and aid from the GI Bill, Jack was able to attend college and graduated from Georgia Tech to become an electrical engineer.
His career as an electrical engineer enabled him to support his wife and three children, in whom he instilled the value of having a good education. He also valued democracy and ran for Supervisor of Elections in Pinellas County on the belief in the sanctity of the people’s right to vote.
He was preceded in death by his wife Robbie Green Killingsworth.
He is survived by his three children, William B. Killingsworth, John P. Killingsworth, and Jennifer A. Killingsworth as well as two grandchildren who were his pride and joy Armando Maximillian “Max” Killingsworth and Laura Mae Killingsworth.
Memorial services will be held on May 11, 2024 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home at 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308. Family and friends can gather there starting at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated for folks to honor Jack’s absolute love of dogs and donate to their local animal shelter. If you wanted to see a gleam in Jack’s eyes, all you had to do was watch him look at his last companion dog Buster.
