Jennifer (Lynn) Kiser Lloyd, age 54, of Crawfordville, FL, passed unexpectedly at her home on Saturday December 7, 2024. Jennifer is survived by her husband, Eric Lloyd; three children, Scott, Emma, and Sara; her parents Curt and Sally Kiser; Mother-in-Law Tracey Smith; And brother Kevin Kiser, sister-in-law Laura, and nephew Caleb.
Jennifer (Jenni) was born June 15th, 1970 in Tallahassee, FL. She grew up in Palm Harbor and was a graduate of Tarpon Springs Senior High School. Jenni was a varsity athlete in Soccer, the Yearbook Editor, and actively involved in girl scouting. She was passionate in her studies, sailing, and in devouring lots and lots of books. Jenni was often seen with her first and forever best friend, Libby Zeitler, the two being neighbors in their childhood homes at a very young age. After Graduating, she went onto Florida State University to pursue a Bachelors in Political Science with a minor in English. She was an active sister in the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Delta Zeta, both as a collegian and as an alumna, following in her mother’s footsteps who was a Delta Zeta at the University of Iowa. After graduating in only three years in 1991, following a semester abroad where she began her lasting connection with her future husband Eric, Jenni went to attend Law School first at Cumberland Law at Samford University in 1993 before graduating from Stetson Law in Deland, Florida in 1996.
While Jennifer and Eric attended middle and high school together in Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs, FL, they formed a friendship while attending FSU Study Abroad Program at the London Study Center (South Kensington). But their romantic relationship began when Jennifer invited him to a sorority blind date function (Delta Zeta Crush). Not surprisingly, Eric figured her secret out before the event. They remained together from that date in September 1990 until her passing, having been married less than a month short of 31 years.
Her career was defined by her passion for children’s health policy, as exemplified by her instrumental role in the development and early success of the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, where she ultimately served as the Deputy Director, and was recognized for her role in its replication as a model program for other states. She continued her public service with the Florida Senate (Health Policy Committee), the Division of State Group Insurance (Director), Wakulla Middle School, and the Florida House of Representatives (Health and Human Services Committee), where she worked at the time of her passing.
In addition to her career, Jenni served as the FSU Delta Zeta College Chapter Director for 12 years and served several terms on the executive board of the local Alumnae chapter for Delta Zeta. She spent much of her time advising and mentoring the women of the chapter and serving in the light of the flame. She was an incredible example of what it means to be a sorority woman and Jenni was seen often around the Chapter house and took great pride in her women. She was widely known amongst the women fondly as “J-Lo.”
Jennifer was passionate about many things, most of all being her family and children. She drove a minivan that carted loads of kids all over town and found great joy in just watching them. Her children were her proudest accomplishments, and enjoyed watching them succeed in all paths of life. Weekends were full of sports of any type so long as she could yell at the Refs (despite her husband being a local football official). She was an active member of her kid’s elementary PTA and in Wakulla High Cross Country Boosters, living vicariously through her kids on the field. She tried coaching, but soon found that she held too much passion and too colorful of a vocabulary for young ears, and an intolerance for the uninformed opinions of other parents, nonetheless, she still got a trophy!
Her love and enjoyment of Disney Theme Parks was unparalleled, and fittingly she and Eric found a shared passion for spending time in the parks with family. The two were known for loading the minivan multiple weekends a year, often on a whim, and spending countless hours in the Happiest Place on Earth. That is, unless there was a home FSU game. She has stayed in every on-property hotel that Disney has to offer, her personal favorite being The Grand Floridian.
Jennifer was an avid reader, a trait which she passed onto her two daughters whom share her library, and found her peace in a good book close to the water. She was a creature of habit that loved to rewatch the Princess Bride and Steel Magnolias and found the movie theater annoyingly busy. Jennifer was never far from her furry companions, a geriatric German Shepherd named Drake, and her Grand-Dog Cooper. Jennifer developed an interest in genealogy, basing some of her research off her late grandmother Emma Jean Kiser’s research, and lots of her own hours, she proved lineage to the Mayflower, the British Royal Family, and patriots throughout U.S history. She went on to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society through multiple qualifying connections.
Jenni battled daily with chronic pain and handled her struggles with grace. She was forever grateful for the love and support from her friends, forming many lifelong friendships along the way.
She recently reconnected with her faith and was attending classes to become a member of the Catholic Church at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Crawfordville, FL.
Services will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 1 pm on Friday December 20, 2024. A Celebration of life will follow at The Trident Restaurant in Panacea, Fl at 2:30pm.
