Mrs. Jeannie could see right through me when I was a teenager, as smart and wise as she was, but she was always kind, giving, and a strong mother figure to me at the time.

In high school when our friend died, she opened her house for us kids to meet up and ride together to his funeral. Her home felt safe and comforting. 

Jeannie Dixon sought to bless others the way Christ blessed her. We should all be so lucky to meet someone like her.

I remember Jeannie offering to preach for me at The First Presbyterian Church of Havana after my wife Mary died in 2008. Her thoughtful actions on this and many other occasions made her the person she was, a kind, caring, and loving child of God. We will all miss her warm smile and willing, can-do attitude. I will always be grateful for all of the friendship and support which Jeannie gave to my late wife, Rachel, and to myself when I was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Marianna, Florida.  Jeannie was always such a faithful, dependable servant to Florida Presbytery and will be greatly missed.  
May the God whom she served so faithfully continue to bring comfort, guidance and support to all who mourn her death.

I work at Faith Presbyterian Church as the Membership Manager and Ms. Jeannie was so helpful to me teaching me how to work through our database system.  She was patient with emails and questions I had and I grew to depend on her quite a bit to navigate the technicalities of my position.   I didn't speak with her all the time which makes her willingness to assist and be so caring all the more special.  I will miss her.  My condolences go out to her family and all the lives I know Ms. Jeannie touched.  I am praying for your peace and that your broken hearts will be mended and please know, there is no sorrow that God can't ease for He is our balm.  God bless.

My most deepest and sincere condolences to all the family. I worked with Jeannie at the University here in Edinburg, Texas. She was a very loving, caring individual. Always with a smile on her face.  She has now gained her wings and is safely home

Jeannie and I worked at the Houston Public Library, downtown,  back in the 1980s. Word got around that Jeannie was leaving the library for a job with an airline! So one day, before she left, I saw her in the elevator and I said I'd heard she was leaving us for an airline. Jeannie started to laugh and said, no, she was going to Pan American University in Edinburg, TX. We laughed and laughed. Years later, my parents retired to south Texas, and I wanted to be near, so I went to then UT PanAm to interview for a job.  I didn't know that Jeannie was still there and on the interview committee.  After the interview, I tried to act professionally and not be too friendly, but Jeannie was having none of it. She got up and gave me a great big hug! Once I was hired, she took me home to meet her children who were still very young.  At work, she took me under her wing.  I will be forever grateful. 

Jeannie was the best of our profession, and the best of human beings.  My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I wanted to be the first automation librarian at UT-Pan American but the library administration did not think I had the credentials. So several UTPA librarians looked for possible university candidates while attending  Texas Library Association. They couldn’t find the right candidate, but I found a person with the experience needed in the public library field. Her name was Jeannie Head Dixon!

Jeannie was brilliant and greatly respected by everyone she came into contact with. And how efficiently she worked! She never took side in office politics, but just did her work!

I loved to look over her shoulder and absorb automation skills. After she moved to Florida, the new libary director appointed me to take her place! I was never as good in the job as she was, but I loved the job in which she had set the standard!

I have known Jennie since 1990 when she was at the university of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, TX. 
I just heard about this horrible news few minutes ago. My heart is broken 🥲🥲🥲. She was such a fun loving person who always was laughing. She was a great colleague and expert in her field.  Even though she left Texas long time go, but I kept in touch with her.  I wanted to text her just couple of days ago and ask her if she and the family were ok during the storm.  OMG, what a loss. ..

She was the world’s best grandmother. No one can ever, or will ever, compare to her. She was the perfect model of a modern Christian woman and such a sweet, lively, caring woman who made a friend wherever she went. I remember even standing in long lines at Disney, or sitting next to someone in a restaurant, she was always chatting and laughing with people. I’m still in shock and it feels like she’s just on another church trip. I can’t find all the words I want to express, I love you forever mamaw.

 We are so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was a very special lady and I know that you were all so close. She truly loved her family! Please know that we are here and are praying for all of you. We love you all so very much.
