She was born in Milton, Massachusetts on Feb. 12, 1938.
Jean graduated from Milton High School in Milton, Massachusetts and received her degree from Gorham State Teachers College (now the University of Southern Maine) in Portland, Maine.
She was married to the late Eugene C. Young on July 29, 1967, in Milton, Massachusetts.
Jean was a retired elementary school teacher who taught overseas in the Air Force, as well as in Leon County for a number of years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Tallahassee and loved volunteering at Roberts Elementary School. Jean loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling to Maine and time on the beach, baking, watching FSU football, as well as watching the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics play. Jean had a passion for always helping others, her family and church and for her favorite color, purple.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Young of Saint Joseph, Missouri, her father, Elmer Russell Pulsifer of Boston, Massachusetts and her mother, Ethel Isabell Woodruff Pulsifer of Montpelier, Vermont.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill (Young) Runyan and her husband Richard Runyan, of Tallahassee, Florida and her son, Jeff Young and wife, Dennette Young of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is also survived by her brother Lt. Colonel (retired) Donald Pulsifer of The Villages, Florida, and brother, Dr. Bruce Pulsifer and wife Eleanor Pulsifer of Zephyrhills, Florida. She is also survived by several grandchildren: Austin, Tristen, Nicholas, Christopher, Jeanne Marie, Cameron, Jolie and Emma, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday, January 7th at 10 a.m.
