Janet Schuck Perry of Tallahassee passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 29, 2023. She was surrounded by loving family in her final days. She was born in Ocala, Florida on November 7, 1947, a daughter of Joseph P. Schuck and Alene Walker Schuck. She grew up in Tallahassee, FL and was a 1965 graduate of Leon High School. She attended Florida State University serving as president of Sigma Kappa sorority and a member of the FSU Flying High Circus. She graduated from FSU in 1969 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising.
Janet began a career in banking at Piedmont Bank in Davidson, North Carolina after college. She was quickly recognized for her creativity and business acumen which led to a career in marketing and advertising in the banking industry that spanned more than 20 years. She eventually became Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising for First Union Bank in Charlotte, NC. She retired from First Union in 1994.
Janet was known for her flair for home decorating, and post retirement started her own home accessories store, The Elegant Home, in Mooresville, NC in 2000.
She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother "Mimi", sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband of 28 years, Ralph A. Perry, and her daughter, Courtney Sims Leblanc (Jake), grand daughter Ava Leblanc, stepson Allen Perry (Amy), and step daughter Jennifer Laggan (Michael), and step grandchildren Katherine and Andrew Perry, and Leah and Lucy Laggan. She is also survived by beloved siblings Karen Schuck Carpenter, Jay Schuck, and Lisa Schuck Harvey (Len), sister-in-law Janice Perry Veal (Bill), and six nieces and nephews: Trey Jackson (Kristine), Walker Jackson (Rebecca), Whitney Schuck Hough (Jason), Audrey Schuck Walden (Cody), Julie Schuck, and Taylor Harvey.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
Janet loved travel, boating, fashion, home decorating, reading, and spending time with her husband, close knit family and group of friends. She was a vibrant, loving, and gracious person who will be missed deeply by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home - Timberlane Road Chapel.
