

Lake City. His death was due to lung and brain cancer, caused by
exposure to Agent Orange.
The son of Homer and Armenta Still, Mr. Still had resided in Tallahassee
since 1952. He attended Sealy, Hartsfield, Cobb schools and graduated
from Leon High School in 1966. He also attended TCC, prior to and after
his military service. He served his country as a Combat Medic from 1967
to 1970, to include one year and ten days in Vietnam. He ended his Army
service in February, 1970, after serving over six months as a Sgt E5,
the non-commissioned officer in charge of the 14th Engineering Battalion
Aid Station with a staff of 15 men; he was medically responsible for the
doctor and 1400 men’s lives in 5 companies. He physically helped build a
timber bridge to reopen the “street without joy,” a road never opened
during the entire French occupation.
After his discharge from military service, Mr. Still served the citizens
of Florida by working in the Unemployment Compensation program,
processing unemployment claims. He developed into a specialist handling
the most difficult and/or complicated claims.
Mr. Still is survived by a daughter, Samantha Still; a grandson,
Laurance E. Still; his step-mother, Ann Still; his brother, Wayne M.
Becker (Kathleen Perlman); a step-brother, David Todd (Tricia); a
step-sister, Jamie Cox; two nieces, Noelle and Faith Todd (David &
Tricia); and long-time family friend, Terry Cotton. Family and friends will gather on Monday, January 7th at 1:30 pm at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3308 - 2769 West Tennessee Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304 – and travel by convoy to the VFW Post 3308 Cemetery for a graveside service at 2:00 pm. A reception will take place back at The VFW Post 3308 following the graveside service.
