James Barney Roberts, Ph.D., died Sunday May 2, 2021 at his Tallahassee home at the age of 93. He was married for 64 years to the late Geraldine C. Roberts. His professional career started with his enlistment in the U.S. Navy, followed by the American Red Cross. He then was employed as a Florida State University professor, then as an owner of Tallahassee retail bath store and then with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. He is survived by his daughter Priscilla Lee Roberts Lawrence, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks that any donations in his memory be made to Geraldine’s and James’ favorite philanthropic organization, the American Cancer Society.
