James Efford Johnson, 90, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus on November 2, 2016. He was born in Quincy, Florida, on October 19, 1926. He was married to Joanne Smith Johnson on June 26, 1948. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from November 15, 1944, through June 28, 1946, and was a self-employed paint contractor. He had a passion for NASCAR and traveling. He especially loved Alaska and Las Vegas, having visited there many times. He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Johnson Kassack (Jay), sons James Efford Johnson, Jr. (deceased); David Michael Johnson, and Timothy Samuel Johnson. Surviving grandchildren are Sheryl Joanne Stout and Timothy Seth Johnson. Surviving great grandchildren are Dakota James Kassack and Cody Leon Kassack. Surviving brother is Charles Samuel Johnson. There are also several surviving nieces and nephews. Deceased brother is J.W. Johnson, and deceased sisters, Estelle Johns and Mary Louise Dyer. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Culley's Meadow Wood, Timberland Road, with a graveside service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
