Irene Mae Dunn, 68, entered Heaven’s gates on November 4, 2015 in Tallahassee, FL. She was born on November 3, 1947 in Chester, West Virginia. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, and sister, who gave her all to her children and husband. Irene was married to Robert Dunn on June 17, 1972. She was a faithful member of Freedom Church in Tallahassee for over 25 years where she was a member of the Saturday Prayer Team and sang in the choir.
Irene had an unwavering faith in God. Despite her illness, her spirit continued to shine bright and she shared the joy of her spirituality with everyone she met. Through her sickness she never complained and wasn’t focused on herself, but always on others. She was steadfast in her faith and spent her life cultivating love. Many people in the community have been touched by her generosity, warmth, and prayers.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert Dunn, of Tallahassee; daughter, Dr. Brandy Engler (and husband, Francis) of Los Angeles, California; and her son, Brian Dunn (and wife, Carla) of Tallahassee. She is also survived by her sisters, Ilene Vaughn of Woodward, Oklahoma; Barbara Vaughn of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and brother, Ronald Vaughn (and wife, Vicki) of Chester, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends, Friday, November 6, from 11 to 12 noon at Culley’s Meadowwood. Her graveside service will begin at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd; Tallahassee, FL 32308 or to Freedom Church, 2801 Thomasville Road; Tallahassee, FL 32308.
