Chip was a local insurance agent in Tallahassee and had worked with Colonial Life for over 25 years. He had numerous clients in Tallahassee with locations throughout the state and loved traveling to service these clients. He was a State Certified Pre-Licensing and Continuing Education Instructor who loved his time in the classroom. No one loved to be the center of attention more than Chip, both in his personal and professional life. His outgoing personality and keen sense of humor only supported this desire. He was well known in his professional life as an agent that conducted his business with integrity, honesty and a sincere caring for his clients and will be missed by many.
He attended Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, Alabama and was a student at Samford University and Jacksonville State University. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1976 and had a distinguished career which spanned 16 years. He was promoted under the Stripes for Exceptional Performers and was a recipient of numerous military decorations including the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal (with 4 devices), an Air Force Achievement Medal and numerous unit citations. Extremely proud of his military service, he as an adamant supporter of veteran's organizations and military operations in general. An avid FSU football fan, he waited throughout the year for football season when he could cheer his Seminoles.
He was predeceased by his father, Howard L. Weathers, Jr.; step father, J. Andrew Sorrell; mother, Joyce A. Weathers Sorrell; step brother, J. Andrew Sorrell, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Buddy Forehand.
He is survived by his Life Partner, Lisa B. Wild of Tallahassee; son, Stephen A. Weathers (Amy) of Panama City, Florida; granddaughters, Abby Weathers of Panama City, Florida, Angel B. Lewis of Tallahassee, Florida, and Faith P. Kinsley of London, England; sister, Cindy Forehand of Alexander City, Alabama; step daughters, Jennifer Adams and Amanda Colston of Tallahassee, Florida, numerous step grandchildren; and many friends and loved ones.
Interment with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 2pm at Tallahassee National Cemetery.
Chip has requested donations be made to the Leon Advocacy and Resource Center in lieu of flowers.
