Henry Jackson McCoy
It is difficult to put into words about a man who was such an incredible person let alone an outstanding Dad, but I am going to try.
There was never a more honorable man than Jack McCoy, and to us that means he was trustworthy, ethical, and moral. He lived his life by these three codes and exemplified all of them.
There was never a man more devoted to being a Good Father. He always thought of us first. He was selfless with his time and was always a compassionate and loving father. He loved us unconditionally and even though there were times when that was sorely tested. We could always go to him for advice or support, and he never judged us. He was also a big fan of hugging.
Many people may have never realized what a true intellect our Father was. He could fix anything whether he had a manual or figured it out on his own. Google had nothing on him! He had a mind like a steel trap, but never flaunted it. Daddy was nothing if not gracious and humble.
Perhaps our Father’s most endearing quality was his sense of humor. He never heard a joke he didn’t remember, and he could also recall a joke for any occasion. He kept us laughing till tears ran.
Last but certainly not least was his love for music. He loved it all from Religious to Broadway tunes, to John Gary to Country. It filled his soul and made him smile.
He was a devout Christian and lived the life that reflected those beliefs. He truly knew Heaven was his next stop and although a fighter for life he was at peace when it was time. His 3 children, Vicki, Michael and Kathy were so blessed to have him as our Father. He makes it hard to follow that example but for him we will do our very best. Love you, Daddy.
I’ll end with this a prayer that reflects how Daddy would feel about his passing.
“When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long and not with your heads bound low. Remember the love that we shared, miss me, and now let me go.”
