Helen Cross Anderson

Her infectious smile and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Helen was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on March 6, 1924 to Brewster and Gussie Cross. She came to Tallahassee at the age of 14 and worked at the Tallahassee Café, for her brother-in-law, Nick Petrandis, while she attended Leon High School. She then worked for many years at

Joe's Spaghetti House, a local favorite in the 50's and 60's. Helen's passion was working in her yard. She was always the envy of the neighborhood with her beautiful landscaping.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, George Maurice Anderson, her parents, Brewster and Gussie Cross and her three siblings, J.B. Cross, B.B. Cross, and Hazel Petrandis.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Anderson of Tallahassee, Terry Anderson (Cheryl) of Cologne, Minnesota, her beloved grandchildren, Stacy Anderson (Jason) of Tallahassee and Doan Rohr (Julie) of Tallahassee and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Carson Rohr. She also leaves behind a special niece, Mary Petrandis and a special member of the family, Fran Harrell.

A celebration of Helen's life will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, with interment to follow in Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. 32308.
