Bill was born in Warrensburg, Missouri on April 16, 1930.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Pan Am Airlines before moving to Tallahassee, where he lived for nearly 30 years.
Bill is preceded in death by his son, Robert; both of his parents; brothers, Melvin, Larry, Robert and Franklin; and sisters, Ruby, Thelma and Goldie. Bill is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Gloria Rivas Sims; sons, Alan Sims (Etty) of Hallandale, Florida, and David Sims (Carla) of Tallahassee. He is also survived by his grandsons, Kyle Sims, Cody Sims and Cameron Sims (Sarah) and great-grand son, Griffin Sims.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida 32311 with a reception to follow at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Rd, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
