She was born in New Jersey on April 16, 1930 and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Miami. She continued her education at Florida State University with a Bachelor's degree in Education and shortly after began teaching Elementary School. Upon raising her five children, she received her Real Estate license and then her Brokers License, later managing a Tallahassee Real Estate office.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George Charles Kolias, and her mother Lola Hamilton. She is survived by her children, Thomas R. Kolias (Elizabeth K. Kolias) Florence, SC, Kathryn K. Watt (George S. Watt III, Bubba) Tallahassee, FL, George C. Kolias, Jr. (Connie J. Kolias), Tallahassee, FL, Richard B. Kolias, Tallahassee, FL, John H. Kolias (P. Justin Paschall) Atlanta, GA.
Additionally, Gloria is survived by seven grandchildren, (Daniel C. Rowan, Tallahassee, FL, Adam H. Rowan, Wauchula, FL, Katie W. Pugh, Tallahassee, FL, Michael T. Kolias, Mooresville, N.C., Brian C. Watt, Tallahassee, FL, Joshua C. Kolias, Florence, SC, Nick R. Kolias, Tallahassee, FL) and six great grandchildren (Layton C. Rowan, Tallahassee, FL, Hunter C. Rowan, Wauchula, FL, George H. Watt, Tallahassee, FL, Charlie W. Pugh, Tallahassee, FL, Harper A. Kolias, Mooresville NC, and Tanner H. Rowan, Tallahassee, FL).
Gloria And George met in high school and began corresponding during his time in the Air Force, during the Korean conflict. Upon his discharge they married in 1953. During their time together they lived in South Miami FL, Charlotte, NC, Lexington, KY and Coral Gables, FL. In 1974 moved to Tallahassee, FL. She always enjoyed entertaining others with her husband.
Gloria loved children and her family and friends. Along with her husband, she enjoyed entertaining others, as well as crafts, especially in her later years. Her love, support and encouragement will be missed by all who knew her.
Family will receive friends at a graveside service at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2022.
