Francis G. (Bud) Huber, Jr. passed away January 21st while in the care of Hospice at Tapestry Senior Living facility with his loving and devoted wife, Diana, at his side. Born in St. Petersburg, FL. October 26, 1932, he was the only child of Francis Sr. and Helen Huber. Raised a Catholic, Bud spent the early years of his life on Florida’s west coast. At some point, he decided his real interest was in pharmacology and enrolled in the University of Florida’s School of Pharmacy. After graduating, his life took a patriotic turn and he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. His pharmaceutical degree took him directly to Officer Training School in New London, CT. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1958, he moved back to St. Petersburg. For the next decade, he owned and successfully operated Skyview Pharmacy. Bud loved helping people to understand their prescription needs but soon realized he could do more. He made the decision to return to school and enrolled in the University of Florida’s School of Medicine. After completing his schooling at UF, his residency took him back north to York, PA. While completing his medical training, he met Dr. Donald (Pete) Piper who would later become his partner in the operation of Dallastown Family Practice Center. After the passing of his father, he knew his mother would need assistance as she aged. Once again, and for the last time, Dr. Huber returned to Florida and eventually settled in Tallahassee where he taught students in Tallahassee Memorial’s residency program. His medical career would soon come full circle when he was asked to become the director of the newly opened Capital Health Plan. Bud loved his position and retired with a feeling of great accomplishment in the medical field and to those he served. A true Gator at heart, he loved rooting for his Florida Gators but would occasionally refer to himself as a “semi-Gator” because two of his seven children attended Florida State. Still needing a little more to fulfill his life, he met, fell in love with and married Diana Deeb, who would be, “ in sickness and in health”, by his side until God took him home.
In addition to his wife, those left to mourn his passing are daughters Claudia (Bob), Natalie (Aaron), Holly and Melissa. Sons: Frank (Bonnie), Dave (Mandy) and Shayne. Step-children: Corey (Jennifer) and Samantha (Jeremy). Grandchildren: Brynna, Neisha, Rebecca, Chad, Chase, Mark, Colsen and Kieran. Step-grandchildren: Hailey, Taylor, Landen, Jaydyn and Lylah. Great grandchildren: Cael, Hailey, Mackenzie and Brock and step great-grandchild, Cooper.
Preceding Dr. Huber in death were his parents, an infant son and the mothers of his children.
