Everett Lovide Rhodes arrived in Heaven on July 18, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years Cornelia (Connie) Rhodes and his son Allan Joseph Rhodes and daughter Donna Asbell Carmichael (Bruce), his grandchildren, Travis Asbell (Veronica) and Nisha Shavonne Rhodes. Two great grandchildren Tyler Asbell and Chasalyn Asbell, and a great-great grandchild Kaitlyn Asbell, also numerous family members, nieces, nephews and friends. Everett was preceded in rest by his son Everett Scott Rhodes, his brothers Ronald, Bud, and Hillis and his sister Laverta Funderburke.
Everett was born in Rochelle, GA. July 27, 1933 to Pauline Connor Rhodes and Joseph Lovide Rhodes. He worked for 15 years with the Sunbeam Corp relocating to Tallahassee in 1956. He invested in real estate and various businesses and was part owner of Southern Electric Inc. until he retired in 1995.
Everett loved the lord and served Him all his life, his heart was filled with peace and love for everyone. He became pastor of Community Baptist Church in 1965 and remained until 2015. His many parishioners, friends and family loved his guidance and wit, he loved to laugh and share his wisdom of living with God in charge and teaching the word of God, and mentoring all who would listen. His life work was walking with God daily and exemplifying dedication to His word.
Everett will always be a beloved husband, adored father, cherished brother, endearing grandfather, loving uncle, pastor and friend. He adored and revered his family and friends and warmed our hearts with his joy and laughter. Everett was a leader and inspired us all to trust the Lord and serve Him always.
You will forever be loved and cherished in all our hearts, until the time we meet again and rejoice with you in the Lord together, Amen.
The Rhodes family will receive friends at the Riggins Road Chapel of Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral home on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 6pm until 8pm. The celebration of life will be Friday, July 22, 2016 at 2pm at Community Baptist Church Tallahassee.
