...and the Holy Spirit in the form of a fluffy white cloud slowly descended over the still, inert sheet covered body. It gathered up the new born soul & nestled it in its arms & slowly lifted into the Heavens with love and joy palpitating from its inner being. It would nurture & care for this new arrival with songs of joy & peace & love.
Edna Mary was born in Kanapolis, Kansas to Bertha Belle Linn and Lewis Henry Bray. She was the oldest of 6 children. She was predeceased by her siblings: Alice Marie Ploutz, Mary Belle Mikalis, Laura Beiter & John Bray leaving Paul Bray as the only surviving sibling.
My Mom had 2 daughters: Barbara Jean Powell 1942-1981 of Newman CA and Sharon McGlasson (Michael) of Tallahassee FL and step-daughter Dolores (Marlin) Walker, Clear Lake CA . Grandmother to Jeff Ennis (Lana) of Newman CA; Andres Enriquez, San Francisco CA; David Enriquez, Sarasota FL; Shelly Enriquez, Tallahassee FL & Melissa Enriquez, Dallas TX; Great-Grandmother to Kyle & Luke Ennis.
Mom was a woman of many talents. Oil painting, knitting, crocheting to name a few as well as owning a ceramic shop in Nice, CA. Family & friends are left to treasure some of her completed projects. She also worked in the insurance business, as a legal secretary, and church secretary. She brought her unique cheerful attitude wherever she went & people will miss her many jokes. Her greatest gift was her smile & humor and the ability to encourage others, leaving happiness in their hearts.
Mom grew up in Kansas but moved to California in the 40’s. She then moved to FL in 1975 to join me & my family and lived with us most of that time. They relocated to Tallahassee FL after Hurricane Andrew in 1992. She lived at Georgia Belle Apts. for over a decade where she was in charge of ordering lunches, organized Bible studies with the Timberlane Church of Christ, drove friends to church and Dr. appts, and helped care for her special needs granddaughter Shelly while I was at work. Her e-mail address was appropriately ‘feistymimi’. She spent her last 2 years at Westminster Oaks Health Center where they quickly came to appreciate her humor. She was blessed to be surrounded by a caring staff as well as her family.
There will be a small family gathering at Culley’s Meadow Woods Funeral Home on Riggins Rd, a memorial service at Westminster Oaks with a date to be announced and a family gathering in California at a later date.
