Dorothy Anne Carter Wilson passed away peacefully with family members at her side at Westminster Oaks on January 24, 2024 at age 97. She was born May 7, 1926. Dorothy was a life long resident of Tallahassee. She was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church.
She graduated from Leon High School and Florida State University.She worked as a first grade teacher at Fort Braden School and Kate Sullivan School. She loved teaching children to read.
Dorothy was an avid Florida State football fan and a member of the Seminole Boosters and Extra Point Club. She had a passion for creating unique flower arrangements and was a member of the Tallahassee Garden Club. She was also a Flower Show judge. She loved dogs and for most of her life had a dog at her side.
Dorothy was preceded in death by William H (Bill) Wilson, her husband of over 50 years and her brother, Wesley Carter.
She is survived by her children Anne Wilson Stamer (Bill) of Durham, North Carolina, Mary Margaret (Ming) Wilson Lee (Dean) of Reno, Georgia and William H Wilson Jr (Kathryn) of Tallahassee, her grandchildren Dylan Stamer, Damian Stamer, Amanda Clark, Clyde Lee, William Wilson III and Dylan Bradley Brown, and several great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Westminster Oaks on January 29, 2024, at 10 am.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Westminster Oaks Health Center for the wonderful care and companionship they provided for Dorothy over many years. A private burial will occur.
The family asks for donations to a charity of one’s choice in lieu of flowers.
