Services will be held on December 8, 2023, at Crossway Baptist Church, 405 Crossway Road, Tallahassee, FL 32305. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. and the Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at White Church Cemetery in Woodville, FL.
Dora married Truman Myron Moore, the love of her life, on October 19, 1946.
They had been married for 45 years when he passed away in 1991.
Dora was a 1958 Founding Member of Crossway Baptist Church (then known as Crawfordville Road Baptist Church). Her favorite pastimes included travel, going on numerous adventures with her friends, reading and puzzles. But her greatest joy was her family, whom she deeply loved and took great pleasure in.
She worked at Flowers Bakery, the original Sears & Robuck located on Monroe Street, and then retired after 17 years as an accountant with the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles.
Dora is survived by her sister Ruby Lee Harrison (Ralph) of Marianna, four children: Sharon Dennis of Crawfordville FL, Evelyn Wasdin of Tallahassee FL, Debbie Warner (Jeff) of Tallahassee Fl, and Thomas ‘Tommy’ Moore (Sandy) of Tallahassee FL.
Dora is also survived by nine grandchildren:
James ‘Jimmy’ Messer (Christi) of Texas, John Wasdin (Darlene) of Jacksonville FL, Sheileen Smith (Jerrod) of Crawfordville FL, Richard Messer (Angela) of Crawfordville FL, Joanna McIver (Mike) of Tallahassee FL, Garrett Warner (April) of Tallahassee FL, Amy Jones (Roman) of Tallahassee FL, Sarah Collins (Tanner) of Tallahassee FL, and Shelbi Warner of Tallahassee, FL
20 Great-Grandchildren and six Great-Great Grandchildren.
Dora is preceded in death by her husband, Truman Myron Moore; Sisters: Infant Maybelle Lewis, Doris Rivers, and Ethel Ballard; Brothers: Hubert Lewis, Henry Lewis, and Elbert Lewis.
A very special woman, who was deeply loved and blessed our lives in so many ways, is rejoicing in Heaven now. “Mom, we love you and will see you again on the other side.”
John 3:16: For God so Loved the World, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
