Donald Lloyd Chapman, 72, of Tallahassee, passed away on Friday (11/4) after a fierce battle with a rare form of cancer. Don was born on Dec 25, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware to parents Lloyd and Lula Chapman. He grew up in a loving family and was an only child.
Don attended the Philadelphia College of Bible and Reformed Episcopal Seminary. He served as prison chaplain at the Delaware Correctional Center and was the Director of Religious Services for the Department of Corrections. He ministered and supervised hundreds of volunteers as well as helped to create the nationally recognized Teen Challenge Program. Later in life, Don's path shifted to helping others through his roles as a protective investigator and medical disability examiner for the State of Florida. He and his wife co-owned Klassic Katering and he enjoyed working there as often as he could.
Don was a loving husband and father who led a selfless life for his family and others. He is survived by his wife: Karen; children: Samantha Chapman (Justin) Rafel, Jonathan (Sharin) Chapman, Elizabeth Chapman; and grandchildren: Lauren, Jack and Reagan Chapman. He also leaves behind his beloved animals: Mani and Mini Rose.
