David R. Stewart, Jr, 81, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 11, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie Stewart, and children, David Reid Stewart III, Kayce Giglio (Chris), Margaret Stewart, Sarah Lewis (George), and Jessica Stewart. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, Hannah, Ansley, Cadie, Will, Michael, Benjamin, Avery, Sylvan, Stella, Clifton, David, Bridger, Brantley, and one great-grandchild Alyana. He is also survived by his sister Sandra Booth (Larry), brothers-in-law Bob Snyder and Bill Snyder (Jill), sister-in-law Carol Collins and many nieces and nephews. David was proceeded in death by his parents, Reid and Elon Stewart and brother Daniel Stewart.
David and Connie moved to Tallahassee in 1970 where David sold commercial real estate for many years until his early retirement. He then started Good News Ministries in Frenchtown which was a soup kitchen to feed the homeless, a house for homeless men and another house for abused young women.
His family brought him the most joy every day and he felt his marriage to Connie and the family they raised was his greatest accomplishment. In addition to the love he had for his family, David loved his many friends from all walks of life.
The family would like to thank Big Bend Hospice for the care they provided at the end of David’s life. Thank you also to doctors Carlos Campo and Michael Forsthoefel for their wonderful care.
If there is one thing David taught those that knew him, it is how to love. The way that David loved would heal the world, so may we all go love the way David did.
At David’s request, no formal service will be held.
