David Mondell George 81 years young passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017. David was the 7th child of 11 siblings and the first of two boys. He was born in New York, New York to George M. George and Philomena R.. George on September 12th 1936. He attended Hunter College. He retired after 36 years of devoted service as tour superintendent to the US Postal Service. He was a quiet man of few words but thoughtful, kind hearted and loving. He was very frugal and practical in his resources. In his early years, he enjoyed both weight lifting and the gift of performing in numerous orchestrations on the flute. Later on he developed a love of the outdoors with fishing and gardening. His gardens though not picture perfect always showed his ability to produce an abundance of fruits and vegetables. He thought himself quite the handyman as well. He did like to travel on cruises and frequent trips to the Caribbean especially his parents homeland of Barbuda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Jeanette Sotomayor and Shirley Carlton. He is survived by his children Adrienne and Fikriyyah George and their mothers; Florence George and Cheryl McCloud; his siblings Eleanor Harris, Lillian Larrier, Helena Richardson, Vivian McCall, Mercia Okafor, Gilda Young, Felicia Bryan, Montaque George; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 6pm on Friday, October 27 at Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home 700 Timberlane Road.
Funeral service will be at Noon on Saturday, October 28, at Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home 700 Timberlane Road with interment to follow.
