Claudia was born in Lenoir, North Carolina on April 7, 1939 as the only child to Claude and Rena Jones. She met her husband to be, Kyle Watson Roberts, growing up in the tiny township of Kings Creek outside of Lenoir. Claudia and Kyle were married upon Claudia’s graduation from high school in 1958 and the newlyweds immediately moved to Arizona while Kyle served his Country in the United States Air Force. The couple returned to Lenoir at the end of Kyle’s military service where they were blessed with three daughters, Marina, Shana and Shawne.
The family moved to Tallahassee in 1981 and Claudia’s parents soon followed. Claudia worked for the Leon County School Board until her retirement. Kyle and Claudia were active members in the Immanuel Baptist Church and both sang in the church choir.
Claudia was a loving and compassionate Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren who were all together to celebrate her 80th birthday this past Spring. Claudia never knew a stranger and was loved and respected by all who were blessed with her friendship.
Claudia is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Kyle and their three daughters, Marina Grace Logan (Mark), Shana Dale Daugherty (Bob), Shawne Elizabeth Thomas (Steve), as well as her six grandchildren, Owen and Graye Keel, Garrett and Wyatt Daugherty, and Sam and Olivia Thomas.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Immanuel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Claudia will be laid to rest at Tallahassee National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice or Immanuel Baptist Church.
