CARROLL, Charles L., 83, died January 24, 2019 at his residence in Tallahassee, FL. Charles a/k/a Chuck and also known by the nickname of “Coon” by family members and close friends, was the devoted husband of Barbara Carroll and Louise Carroll, both now deceased. He is survived by his children, Lori Gallman, Deedee Isaacs, Greg Carroll and Jenny Rutledge along with numerous grandchildren and brother James “Bug” Carroll.
Charles was born in rural Sanford, AL to James Presley Carroll and Bonnie V. Carroll and grew up with brothers, James and Gerald and sister Pat. In his childhood, he enjoyed playing sports and helped out with the numerous chores required living on a farm. While serving in the army in the motorcade division, stationed in Washington D.C., he married Barbara and subsequently moved to Fort Myers, FL with their three kids, Lori, Deedee and Greg, and was hired by Trailways Bus Lines. While driving for Trailways, he drove tour groups all across the United States, bringing back treasures for his kids and stories for his friends. A few years later their last child, Jenny was born and in 1986 they moved to Tallahassee, FL where Charles ended his career as a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines. Barbara died in 1999 and in 2002, Charles married Louise. They enjoyed their time together renovating and decorating their houses, and spending time with family members in Alabama and Florida, until the death of Louise in 2017. In his spare time, Charles loved golfing (most proud of making a hole-in-one twice!), bass fishing and watching sports.
Charles was a hard worker, family man and a generous soul. He was the sweetest man you could ever find and was adored by all family members and friends alike. He will be greatly missed!
