Carolyn Hiers Summers

She was born July 4, 1924 in Barnwell County, South Carolina, the first of three daughters to Walvin and Pearle Hiers.

A homemaker, Carolyn was a long time resident of Jacksonville and later, Tallahassee, but moved to be near her daughter in TX in 2006. She was a member of East Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed conversing regularly with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Carole Gail Summers, her husband, John T. MacDonald, and granddaughter, Shannon S. Block and her husband, Bernie, and Pamela Summers Dickerson, her husband Kevin D. Dickerson, and grandson, Austin S. Dickerson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Addison L. Summers, her sisters, Judy Towne and Mary Martin, and her parents.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312 with interment to follow in MeadowWood Memorial Park . Family will receive friends from 7:30-9:00 pm Friday at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312. Memorials may be made to East Hill Baptist Church in Carolyn's memory.
